Bianca Ryan, Terry Fator, Neal E. Boyd, Kevin Skinner, Michael Grimm, Laundau Eugene Murphy Jr., Olate Dogs, Kenichi Ebina, Mat Franco, Paul Zerdin and now Grace VanderWaal. What do these names have in common? They were all winners of America’s Got Talent. Or are they?
I am motivated to write this post tonight because I feel the season 11 winner will become a victim of the go nowhere winners of this entertainment TV series. Entertainment it is. I am a big fan of AGT because I like amazing and talented performances. Grace, whom I love from the bottom of my heart, won AGT 11. The problem is, within this competition, it is not just about the money but the promised Las Vegas headliner show.
I personally know Terry Fator, Paul Zerdin and I go way back with Michael Grimm. Terry has the big room. He has the number one slot as a ventriloquist in Las Vegas. Paul has a great show at Planet Hollywood. Michael, God bless him, is the hardest working, most talented blues singer I know. Paul is in a small room and Michael never took off Nationally.
ONE, yes One winner of America’s Got Talent made the big time in Las Vegas as a headliner. Terry Fator.
Grace won season 11. Grace is awesome. Grace has potential. Should she have won AGT 11? No. Grace is not a Vegas headliner act and even if she was, the odds are against her. Look at the names above. One of eleven winners gets the big room and holds that room over the years. Most of the other AGT winners are names you never knew or will ever know.
Speaking of Las Vegas, it’s all about odds. When you look at the combined winner list of AGT, The Voice, X-Factor USA/UK, Britain’s Got Talent and American Idol, how many big winners have ever transitioned to superstardom? Maybe 7 or 8?
America chose the winner of AGT 11 and they are morons. They voted with their hearts which makes no business sense. You would think the producers of AGT, pitching the Vegas headliner contract would at least manipulate the voting results…like that never happens.
In order of my vote I would have chosen: The Clairvoyants, Sal Valentinetti and Viktor Kee.
I think the producers of AGT should take all of the top ten acts and put them on tour. I would pay to see that.
